Domestic Violence Support Groups for Women

SWAN Domestic Violence Group Counseling is a weekly support group for surviving women, who may or may not still be in a domestically violent relationship, to meet in a safe space or to virtually compare their experiences and discover they are not alone. After 12 sessions of focusing on topics such as Types of Abuse, Understanding Relationship Abuse, Warning Signs, Power and Control, The Cycle of Violence, Progression of Abuse, and the effects abuse has on children in the home, the survivor is issued a certificate of completion. The group also focuses on safety and having a safety plan in place. These groups are available for both domestic abuse emergency shelter residents and our community clients.

In-person support groups for female victims of domestic violence are available at our offices in Effingham and Olney. Virtual support groups are available for victims throughout our service area.
